In the Mozart à la Say program, Mozart is held in the highest regard. Internationally renowned pianist and composer Fazıl Say is a great admirer of the old master but adds his own unique twist to his work. The three movements from Mozart’s Serenata Notturna and Fantasia, combined with piano pieces by Say, come together to form the Mozart-Say Suite.

The melancholic yet hopeful The Messenger by Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov is a tribute to the great classical master. In the score, the messenger is expressed through flowing, distant, Mozart-like phrases. In Moz-Art à la Haydn, Schnittke conjures the spirits of the old masters Mozart and Haydn, engaging them in an eerie yet ironic duel of fragmented classical music.

The grand finale, Yürüyen Köşk (The Moving Mansion) by Fazıl Say, is an ode to the Turkish national hero Atatürk. Originally composed as a piano quintet, it is now performed in full string ensemble strength.
