Each year a leading composer creates the Bosch Requiem, a regular feature of the November Music Festival.
Since 2017, the November Music festival opens each year with a brand new requiem known as the Bosch Requiem, commissioning the most compelling composers of our day for this work. Hawar Tawfiq, Calliope Tsoupaki and Kate Moore have composed requiems for previous festival editions. This November the Dutch composer Joey Roukens has written a requiem for choir, string orchestra and percussion. It is a homage to the requiem in the traditional sense. Roukens combines movements using the original Latin texts with movements that add his own contemporary interpretation to the traditional requiem.
