After his great success at the Prinsengracht Concert, Amsterdam Sinfonietta welcomes this exceptional guest back for a festive Christmas programme featuring classical arias, jazz songs and Christmas carols.
The After Party is a new song cycle by Carlos Simon, co-commissioned by Amsterdam Sinfonietta and written especially for John Holiday. Inspired by the African-American Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s, the work is full of energy and deeply rooted in the spiritual sound world of the Black community. The concert ends on a warm, festive note with a selection of Christmas carols.
