Beyond Classical

with The Tallest man on Earth

tot en met

Our traditional New Year’s tour steps over the boundaries of classical music. In collaboration with The Tallest Man on Earth and the Brooklyn Rider String Quartet, Amsterdam Sinfonietta presents a programme including the Swedish singer-songwriter’s own numbers, Classical Scandinavian composers and covers of Bob Dylan and Sting.

The Swedish singer-songwriter Kristian Matsson, better known as The Tallest Man on Earth, is the following guest artist in our long New Year’s tradition. The Tallest Man on Earth can command total silence in a hall, transfixing audiences with just his coarse-grained voice and a guitar. On a single evening he plays up to 10 guitars, ranging from acoustic to banjo. He joins forces with Amsterdam Sinfonietta for a captivating programme of Swedish folklore, Classical Scandinavian composers, a selection from the singer’s own growing repertoire of superb numbers and covers by Bob Dylan and Sting, among others. Special guest is the New York string quartet Brooklyn Rider, with their insatiable appetite for adventure. “Frontman” Colin Jacobsen will lead Amsterdam Sinfonietta.
