Amsterdam Sinfonietta Chamber Music

Mozart & Korngold

tot en met

In this chamber music tour, the leaders of Amsterdam Sinfonietta perform two extraordinary works by two Austrian prodigies: a powerfully dramatic string quintet and a masterly, romantic string sextet.

Leopold Mozart was astounded when he saw his four-year-old son Wolfgang composing a piano concerto. No clumsy childish effort, the result was a delightful sounding opus. Erich Wolfgang Korngold deservedly bore Mozart’s forename: when the nine-year old Korngold presented a self-composed cantata to Gustav Mahler on the piano, Mahler was impressed, exclaiming: “A genius!” The programme features two exceptional works by the two Austrian prodigies: a powerfully dramatic string quintet and a masterly, romantic string sextet.
